Who doesnt like scary stories? Been viewing a handful of scary motion pictures recently, some favorites, and some brand-new stuff. The Autopsy of Jane Doe is the standout, I believe– remarkably weird fucking film, though I d also argue it possibly fluctuates a little in the third act. (Though the 3rd act waver is a horror movie problem in general, and probably is worthy of an article unloading that problem at much better length.) I wont spoil, but I had NO concept what it had to do with going in, and it threw me for a couple great loops. Apostle on Netflix was fantastic, if utterly harsh and dour. Prepared or Not is a favorite, and Ive seen it a buncha times now– serves actually well in a two-fer with Knives Out (which is not a scary film, I know). Scare Me on Shudder was so fucking excellent– its hard to understand if its even a horror motion picture or a film about scary, but its funny and odd and twisted and completely relies on the efficiencies of its capable actors. Its perhaps better than any of the films I enjoyed, but I also question if its really even a horror film at all. I seem like theres something else I viewed, too, today I dont understand what the hell it was. WHATEVER. Yay scary motion pictures. Its strange that right now theyre comfort food? That, too, demands a higher unpacking– throughout times of stress and upheaval, scary stories succeed. Again, Im stunned Wanderers has actually offered in addition to it has through the pandemic. Its sales have actually been, up till the last couple weeks, unbelievably stable. Which boggled my bits, however hey, cool. Thank you for reading.
The last motion picture was One Cut of the Dead. Once again, no spoilers because– well, I simply cant ruin it.
Hey, you can find me talking about writing in a couple positions this week. I got to sit down with excellent friend and writer extraordinaire Delilah S. Dawson for Gotham Writers and get into crispy procedure concerns about composing throughout both category and medium and we even dig into some business-related writing stuff. I have a lot of made complex sensations about it, varying from harassment and death dangers and then how you just sorta get left out there to deal with it, and quickly you understand that it possibly worsens anxiety and anxiety and– you understand, this isnt enjoyable to hear.
And in case anyone wants to be mad at me about this, for some reason: hey simply fuckin relax, Im not in the sandbox any longer, I dont believe Im even permitted in the sandbox any longer, Im not breaking your toys, cool down. Im doing my own thing and you can go on not providing a shit about that and being irritable about space wizard social justice or something.
Lets talk enjoyable horror stories. Lets say Im still in the mood for a enjoyable scary movie– whats your favorite? By enjoyable, I suggest, not a film that crushes your soul. Not something that trashes you after, but something thats a blast to see, even if its gross or frightening or whatever. Was the most current Halloween any excellent? Thinking on checking that out today.
Too late to send by mail a tally if you have not, so go to a drop-box, or your polling place on the day of, or the electoral office closest to you– get it done. Vote, vote, vote. Make your case, plead your POV, get it done.

Shit, I do not even agree with half my writing recommendations any longer– as I compose more, I know less, and Im good with that. Every book I write reminds me that I dont know how to compose a book. And the writing suggestions is always just a tool kit complete of random tools; maybe you require that odd screwdriver, or possibly you dont. Its arguably better than any of the motion pictures I watched, but I likewise wonder if its really even a scary film at all.
Been a while given that I came here and just sorta painted the walls with an irregular spatter of ideas and news musk, so here we go, lets do it.
