The Desmond Elliott Prize 2021 / How To Apply (Prize: £10000)

Worth ₤ 10,000 to the winner, the Prize is named after the literary agent and publisher, Desmond Elliott, in memory of his passion for finding and supporting emerging authors.

Since 2008, when it was very first granted, the Prize has a performance history of identifying outstandingly talented authors at the beginning of their professions, with previous winners consisting of Eimear McBride for A Girl is a Half-formed Thing and Claire Fuller for Our Endless Numbered Days, along with Preti Taneja for We That Are Young. The winner of its 2020 edition was Derek Owusu.

The Desmond Elliott Prize is a yearly award for a very first unique composed in English and released in the UK.

Entries must be a launching full-length unique composed in English.
The Prize is open to full-length literary fiction books written for adults.
By an author whose permanent home remains in the UK or IrelandPublished in print type in the UK/ Ireland in between 1 April 2020 and March 2021.
Shortlisted authors must be available to go to the reward event in July 2021.
Authors must be living at the time of submission.
The organizers of the Desmond Elliott Prize choose to get sent books as.epub or.mobi files. If this isnt possible, five paper copies need to be gotten at National Centre for Writing, Dragon Hall, 115– 123 King St, Norwich, Norfolk, NR1 1QE prior to the due date.
Submissions must be from the publisher.
