The Next Creative Project: Mind the Gap by Nevada McPherson

If youre a routine here, you may have seen a few of my posts about the journey..

It ends up that was only a portion of the story. As soon as I was finished with the initial version of the unique, it was so long I chose to divide it in half and turn it into a series of books..

Once the play was over and those blocks of time were no longer filled with play practice, I felt somewhat adrift, without the centerpiece of the upcoming performance to occupy my mind and every waking minute..

What would I do in those gaps of time?.

I have some concepts, so here they are:.

I have the sensation I utilized to have in school when I d remained in a play, with nighttime play practice and discovering my lines taking up the bulk of my time..

Now that the very first book in the series is coming to a close (the writing and editing, that is), I discover myself between major tasks, with some time to rely on other tasks Ive been indicating to get to..

While Ive been working on the book for that amount of time, the initial job is more like twenty years in the making because its based upon a movie script I composed back in 2000..

As spring shows up, Ive been putting the finishing touches on the novel Ive been dealing with gradually for almost two years now..

These are concerns Im now considering again, all these years later..

How would my “downtime” now best be put to utilize?.

1. Compose some pieces of flash fiction..

Some recent pieces of flash Ive checked out are still stuck in my mind, so Im influenced by the work of fellow authors. Im on the look-out for topics for some flash pieces of my own to send to the growing number of publications searching for truly brief pieces that load a punch!

Ive seen that other authors I follow in some cases mention on posts that theyre taking a break from something longer to develop a piece of flash. Im influenced to do the same from time to time..

2. Write the innovative nonfiction Ive been mulling over for so long..

I did begin composing one the other day. In retrospect I understand that I was providing too much history on the subject instead of getting to the heart of the matter of what I desire to state. It took the real writing to realize that, so theres no better way to get closer to getting it done than just diving right in..

A few of these ideas might become flash pieces as well, and some may be lengthier, but I will not know till I get going on them..

Ive had an idea for a long period of time about a piece of nonfiction I desire to write. Wish to write? Why not write it now?.

Whether Im in the middle of another task or not, Im dedicating to making the time to proceed and brainstorm and organize my ideas for essays and nonfiction and get composing already!.
