That news is a many-headed hydra of awesomeness, and includes three beats: first, QC has partnered with Lionsgate Television for the job; second, Glen Mazzara (The Shield! The Walking Dead! Dark Tower TV show that shouldve been picked up but wasnt!) is on as showrunner; and 3rd, the book is getting a follow up in 2022!
On the TV side of things, the most crucial of caveats applies: it doesnt imply its pertaining to your TV anytime quickly. The work now is to shop it around to discover the best network/streaming partner for it to see if theyll bring Glen and Lionsgates vision of the book to light. Im confident, because hot damn, what a group. I understood we remained in good hands with QC and this just sweetens the sauce. But its by no implies an assurance. Things happen! And the precise future of TELEVISION and movie production stays unsettled. However hope is on the wind, like a white fungus that will colonize your face and brain!
Anyhow. Thems the news! News Ive been sitting on, in part, for nearly a year, now.
More news to come, and will share when I can.
Deadline got to break some very cool news.
( Sidenote, the sequel is tentatively titled Wayward.).
Well, listen, I always said this is a story I d continue if it felt right, and if sales bore that out. Meaning, fine, yes, I composed the book to be a consisted of story, start-to-finish, however it was one that could conceivably have a robust “2nd chapter” if I discovered the ideal angle, the right reason, the ideal throughline. Sales, as it ended up, were good– the book was a national bestseller, and has outsold whatever else Ive written with the exception of the first couple Star Wars books. Then– literally on the aircraft trip out to begin my book trip for it last July! — the entire story for the follow up pertained to me wholesale, and that was when I knew there was something there, and more tale to inform.
Certainly, Im geeked as hell about this– Glen is fantastic, truthfully, and gets the book and has dug to its marrow for what the show might appear like. Lionsgate is the best option, too, and are dedicated to the show in a huge method, in addition to QC. And the sequel …
I guess I should compose that follow up now, huh?
